Rahul Gandhi's Pulwama comment triggers war of words between BJP and Congress

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday raised several questions over the Pulwama terror attacks, triggering a war of words between the Congress and the BJP.
On Friday morning, as the country observed the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama last year, Rahul Gandhi, in a tweet, posed three queastions: "Who benefitted the most from the attack? What is the outcome of the inquiry into the attack? Who in the BJP Govt has yet been held accountable for the security lapses that allowed the attack?"

Shortly after his tweet, the BJP launched a salvo at the former Congress president accusing him of indulging in politics.
BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain lashed out at Rahul for his "insensitive" comments that "insulted" the Pulwama martyrs.
"Rahul Gandhi has made an insensitive comment that insults the Pulwama martyrs. Congress stoops to new lows every time in their greed for political benefits. People of the nation have been regularly punishing the Congress in elections because of their attitude of trivialising serious issues for 'benefits'. This has even helped Pakistan as Congress statements are used against India at international forums," Hussain tweeted.

BJP's Amit Malviya too echoed Hussain. "Are you disappointed that India took resolute action?" he questioned.
"...allowed the attack? Are you, Mr Gandhi, suggesting that Pakistan is not responsible for the attack in Pulwama? Why would you insist on giving them a clean chit? Did you not see Indian forces take out terrorists in Balakot?" Malviya added.
BJP's national spokesperson Sambit Patra called the former Congress president's tweet "a dastardly comment".

Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill defended the comments of Rahul, saying that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had questioned the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.
"When Shri Narendra Modi held a press conference questioning the government from attack site of 26/11 then he was a nationalist but when Shri Rahul Gandhi raises questions on Pulwama then he is anti-national? Shun the hypocrisy and stop this "use & throw" policy towards soldiers of this country," Shergill said.

NCP leader and minister in Maharashtra cabinet Nawab Malik also supported Rahul's remark.
"Till date, no inquiry has been commissioned to find out from where RDX came and how the vehicle reached the spot? Vehicle's driver was in jail. How did he come out? A probe should be conducted as people want to know the truth," Malik was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
