Woman, lover’s plan to kill her hubby fails

Hassan: The attempt of a woman and her boyfriend to kill her husband went horribly wrong with the latter successfully resisting it at Maragondanahalli village in Arasikere Rural police limits.
The incident happened around midnight on Monday, after which the woman, Ramya, 24, and her unidentified lover have gone underground.
It is said Ramya laced poison with food and fed dinner to her husband Anand, 34, a farmer. She and her lover had planned to strangulate Anand when he was fast asleep after dinner that would induce him sound sleep.
With the help of her boyfriend, Ramya allegedly tied her husband’s hands and legs to the cot using veils. But when the lovers tried strangulating Anand using another veil, he woke up and screamed. Hearing his SOS calls, his mother Nanjundamma too woke up and cried for help. Convinced that their game was up, the lovers fled the spot on a motorbike.
After preliminary treatment at the taluk hospital, Anand was referred to the district hospital, where is recovering.
A case was registered on Tuesday evening under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
SP R Srinivas Gowda said a team has been formed to arrest the accused. Whether the woman had an extra-marital affair can be confirmed only after the investigation, he added.
According to police, the couple had an arranged marriage five years ago, and has a son.
