BENGALURU: The Work on Bengaluru’s first road-cum-rail flyover between
Ragigudda in
Jayanagar and
Central Silk Board (3.2km) is finally gathering momentum.
"BMRCL has successfully completed launching and fixing of wings of first spans of road level flyover successfully making 20-metre wide road section," said BMRCL chief public relations officer
BL Yashavanth Chavan.
R V Road-Bommasandra (EC Metro) will be operational by 2021-end and BMRCL is hoping that the road-cum-rail flyover will be completed by this year-end except at the Jayadeva area.
Further it stated: "The Reach-5 Line of Phase 2 of BMRCL project from R V Road to Bommasandra has conceived an ambitious and complex of road-cum-Metro rail flyover of 3.2Km between Ragigudda and Central Silk Board on Marenahalli Road," the BMRCL said.
The elevated double decker flyover consists of a road flyover, with two lanes on either side, at the first level and metro rail flyover at second elevated level. Apart from the elevated flyover, the grade road will have three lanes each on both sides.
According to BMRCL, 40% of the work, including erection of 2.5Km of Metro rail spans and 0.8Km of road level central spine spans, is over. “The most important and complex activity of the double decker flyover is launching and fixing of wings to spine segment of the road level flyover," said the release.
Similar structures have already been in use in cities like Jaipur, Nagpur and Mumbai. Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) and URC Construction are constructing the stretch, including elevated stations at Ragigudda, RV Road, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board and Jayadeva hospital. The work on elevated corridor, stations, road-cum-rail flyover, road widening and allied works between RV Road and Central Silk Board will be taken up at a cost of Rs 797 crore.
