LUDHIANA: Taking advantage of a 23-year-old woman searching for an accommodation on rent, four men, including two who offered to help her, allegedly raped her the entire night after taking her to an isolated place and dumped her when she fell unconscious.
When she gained consciousness, the rape survivor found herself at a vacant plot at a village. Unsure about her location, she walked for a kilometre before reaching a spot where there were men. There a man helped her and hired an auto-rickshaw which dropped her to quarter where she lived with her husband. Thereafter her husband informed the cops about the incident. She is currently admitted to Ludhiana civil hospital.
Acting on her complaint, police have booked the four men and arrested one of the accused who worked at a dhaba. Other accused included an auto-rickshaw driver.
The incident occurred on February 7, when she had gone to a village to find a room in the labour quarters. There she met the dhaba worker, who introduced her to an auto-rickshaw driver, claiming that he would help her get the accommodation.
In her statement to the police, the rape survivor claimed that the auto-rickshaw driver then showed her an accommodation which she agreed to take before returning to her home in a different area. The next day, she had gone to another place when the auto-rickshaw driver called her up, asking to pay the rent in advance.
As she was not carrying the money, the autorickshaw driver took her to a bank on his vehicle to withdraw money. On her way back, three more persons boarded the vehicle from different areas. Later, the four took her to an isolated place where they raped her the entire night.
