Yavatmal: Former Darwha MC chief arrested in cheating case

YAVATMAL: The Yavatmal police on Wednesday arrested the former chief of Darwha Municipal Council and one of his associates who were absconding in a cheating case.
According to police sources, the ex-municipal council chief Haribhau Gulhane (56), a resident of Telipura of Darwha, and his three associates purchased tur from needy farmers at a low price. When NAFED started purchasing through Maharashtra State Cooperative Marketing Federation, they posed as farmers and sold the tur at higher prices.
Amin Malnas (50), a resident of Wadgaon (Gadhwe) village, is the aide who was arrested on Wednesday with Gulhane. Two of his associates Dharmesh Dhole, a resident of Nathuwadi in Darwha, and Maheshwar Bhoyar, a resident of Shelidi village, were arrested earlier.
The complaint was lodged by marketing officer under the DDR, Yavatmal, on October 13, 2018, alleging a fraud to the tune of Rs1.41 crore.
