David Ruetz, head of ITB Berlin said that their fully-booked halls were a proof that in the age of flight shame, overtourism, climate change and coronavirus, the show is still a focal point for the travel industry and radiates an international aura.   Participating in large numbers and face-to-face meetings are important in the global travel industry is very important.

This year the slogan of the ITB Berlin Convention is ‘Smart Tourism for Future’ as responsible decision-making and success in business are directly linked.     The effects of coronavirus  are very limited at the moment  and till date two Chinese exhibitors have cancelled.     Staffs  from Germany and Europe run the Chinese stands and were thus not affected by the cancellations.

But the overall percentage of exhibitors from the People’s Republic of China was low and the safety of the visitors was their prime priority.   All the recommended measures were taken by the public health authorities as and when it was necessary.   Active measure are independently taken by ITB Berlin.

The official partner country of the event is Oman and at the opening ceremony on the eve if ITB Berlin, the sultanate will be taking the audience on a tour of its many-faceted 5,000 history.   Oman is making the most of its centre stage as a partner country and will be represented for the first time in two halls at the south entrance.   Through Oman’s numerous sustainable tourism initiatives visitors will be able to find out about the country its people and culture.
