Reboot Kerala hackathon from today

T’puram: The first hackathon conducted as part of Reboot Kerala hackathon organized by higher education council and Additional Skill Acquisition Program (ASAP) will begin at LBS Institute of Technology here on Friday.
Students will have to find solutions to problems faced by government departments in the hackathon, which will last for around 36hrs. Higher education minister K T Jaleel said that selected tech solutions will be implemented in government departments after the event.
“Students will develop problem solving skills and new ideas through hackathons,” the minister said. The minister said that top IT companies will attend the event to hire talent.
Reboot Kerala will consist of 10 local-level hackathons and a grand finale. Student participants will be given various problem faced by 14 government departments. The local-level hackathons will be held from February 14 to March 15 in ten districts. Thirty teams will participate in each local hackathon. A team of judges, comprising technical experts, department representatives and social engineers, will select the winners. The first three winners will get Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively. The grand finale will be held from March 27 to March 29 in the capital.
The first hackathon at LBS institute will conclude on Sunday. The second and third hackathons will be held from February 21 to 23 at AKNM Government Polytechnic College, Malappuram, and M Dasan Institute Of Technology, Kozhikode. The fourth and fifth will be held from February 28 to March 1 at Naipunnya School of Management, Cherthala in Alappuzha; Holy Grace Academy, Mala, Thrissur and Jawaharlal College of Engineering and Technology, Lakkidi, Palakkad.
The seventh and eight hackathon, to be held form March 6 to 8, will be held at FISAT Angamali in Ernakulam and Government Polytechnic College, Periya, Kasargode. Government Engineering College, Thrissur and College of Engineering, Idukki, will host the ninth and tenth hackathon from March 13 to 15.
