14 out of 15 patients test negative for nCoV

PUNE: Out of total 15 admissions at city-based Naidu Hospital, three are still in the isolation ward as suspected cases of Novel Coronavirus (nCoV). Out of these 15 cases, 14 tested negative for nCoV. Apart from Mumbai, Pune and Thane travellers are also being monitored in Nanded, Buldhana, Nagpur, Wardha, Sangli, Ahmednagar, Amravati, Palghar, Jalgaon, Chandrapur and Satara districts.

Under the Health Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 81 passengers under surveillance for nCoV who travelled to China in the last one month. As per the State Health Department, till February 11, 25,782 travellers were screened at Mumbai International Airport.

“Field surveillance is actively going on all across the State in search of people coming from corona-affected areas. Till today, the State has 167 such travellers. From January 18 till date, 39 symptomatic travellers were isolated. Till today 37 samples sent by the State have been found negative as per the reports of National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune. At present three travellers are still in hospital. Out of these, two are at Naidu Hospital and one at Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai,” said State Health Department officials.

As per guidelines from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) all travellers coming from Wuhan city of China are being isolated and tested for nCoV whether symptomatic or not. 

Travellers from other affected parts are being followed up for 14 days. Till date out of 167 travellers, 84 have completed their follow-up.
