4 held for rape of minor girl in Sullia

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district police have arrested four people in connection with the alleged rape of a minor Dalit girl in Sullia taluk.
They have been booked under the Pocso Act and SC/ST Atrocities Act.
The police have arrested Deetesh, Ashok Sanketh and Venkatesh. Two more accused, Durgaprasad and Chandrasekhar, are absconding. All the accused are autorickshaw drivers.
According to police, the survivor was befriended by one of the autorickshaw drivers when she was studying in class eight. He used to repeatedly rape her since then. The accused later introduced her to his friends, who took turns to rape her multiple times.
This continued for several years. The rape survivor had discontinued studies after class 10. The accused used to take her to different places and rape her. The incident came to light, recently, when the survivor complained to one of the accused that she missed her menstrual period. The accused, who believed that she was pregnant, gave her an abortion pill. It caused heavy bleeding, after which she was taken to hospital.
During medical examination, she told about her ordeal to doctors and her family. Police said that she gave details about her ordeal last week, after which her parents booked a complaint with the jurisdictional police station.
Search on for 2 accused
Based on her complaint, four people were arrested and a search is on for the two others who are absconding. The arrested accused were produced before a court on Tuesday and remanded in judicial custody.
