AGRA: In a
road rage case,
gram pradhan of Usmanpur, his brother and four others were booked by
Khandauli police of Agra district, for allegedly assaulting a
group of women, who were heading home after attending their relative’s
wedding ceremony in their car.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening at around 4 pm in Usmanpur village. The injured women were identified as Dinesh (45), Rakhi and Rajni. The fourth injured person was
Devender Singh, brother of the two women, who was driving the car. He is a private contractor of Agra Municipal Corporation.
Speaking to TOI, Devender Singh (29) said, “We were returning home from our ancestral village Sherkhan after attending wedding ceremony. As soon we arrived near Usmanpur village, some mischievous teens –unprovoked-pelted stones at our car. The unprecedented attack, broke windshield and side window panes. I along with my sisters Rakhi, Rajni and aunt Dinesh caught hold one teen, who was nephew of the gram pradhan. We confronted the teen’s parents, pradhan and other relatives to pay for the damage. But instead of listening to us, the gram pradhan Rupendra, his brother Shivkumar and four others, started misbehaving with my sisters and aunt.”
“When I protested they started assaulting me. During intervention by my sisters and aunt, the men assaulted them as well,” said Devender, who currently lives in Durga Nagar of Dayalbagh area.
A video of the road rage shot by the victim, saw the pradhan and his relative charging on the victims with stick.
The accused were booked under IPC sections 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 147 (riot).
Vijay Kumar Singh, station house officer of Khandauli said, “All the accused are at large after the incident. The injured victims including women were taken to hospital for medical. Our team is searching for the accused involved in the assault.”
