Ludhiana: The police arrested a liquor smuggler, who was declared a proclaimed offender in January, from 33 Feet Road on Tuesday morning.
Dinesh Kumar, 31, a resident of Dhandari Kalan’s Makkar Colony, was nabbed on a tip-off.
“Dinesh, along with his family, was going somewhere in a car around 7am. When he realised that cops were following him, he accelerated the car. But he soon lost control of the speeding vehicle, which crashed into a roadside pole and came to a halt with burst tyres,” said a cop.
After the collision, Dinesh tried to run away. But he was nabbed after a brief chase.
Jamalpur police station SHO inspector Harjinder Singh said, “No one was injured in the car crash. A local court had declared Dinesh a proclaimed offender a month ago in a liquor smuggling case.”
