Pratap Sarangi on Wednesday met chief minister
Naveen Patnaik to discuss implementation of various programmes of his ministries in Odisha.
It was the first official meeting of Sarangi, after he became the Union minister with the chief minister. The meeting took place at the state secretariat.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Sarangi said he discussed on establishment of central tool room and training centre (CTTC) at
Rourkela and four MSME extension centres at
Berhampur,
Balasore, Bhawanipatna and Keonjhar.
"As the ministry is yet to receive the proposal for establishment of the training centre at Balasore, I had sought the chief minister’s intervention on the matter. The chief minister immediately directed senior officials to send the proposals as soon as possible," said Sarangi.
The Union minister also said he was assured by the chief minister that both Centre and state government will jointly develop Odisha.
While the Central tool room and training centre would be set up with an investment of Rs 200 crore, each of the extension centre would be established with an investment of Rs 20 crore. The Centre would provide 100 per cent financial assistance for establishment of these institutions.
The CTTC is a platform that imparts industry-oriented training programmes on tool design and manufacturing, tool making, machine maintenance, industrial automation and networking management.
As the Centre has also sanctioned 45 MSME clusters in the country for development of small and medium enterprises, Sarangi said the Centre needs the state government’s cooperation to successfully setting up of the clusters.
"I have informed the chief minister that a senior official from the Union MSME ministry will visit the state to make a presentation about objective of these clusters, how these will benefit for economic development of the state,” said Sarangi.
The Union minister also discusses for development of fisheries sector in the state.
