Rydal Penrhos announces ambitious plans to secure private school's future

New plans have been revealed to secure the future of one of the region’s best known private schools.

Rydal Penrhos announced a year ago it was no longer taking on new boarders, leaving the Colwyn Bay school’s future uncertain.

Offers in for Llandudno hotels that collapsed into administration last year

Offers have been made for three North Wales hotels that have been in administration for several months.

Gavin Woodhouse’s company Northern Powehouse Development (NPD) saw its hotels in Llandudno and the Conwy Valley go into the hands of administrators Duff & Phelps last summer.

Traffic - A494

Usual slow traffic on A494 Mold Road Eastbound before A55 J33B (Ewloe). Travel time is four minutes.

Caravan park evacuated as rain, high tide and strong winds leave sections flooded

A caravan park was evacuated after parts of it were flooded today.

Golden Sands in Kinmel Bay, Denbighshire, told everybody to leave by 5pm this evening, after bad weather hit the region again.

Very slow traffic on A483 Wrexham Bypass Northbound before A55 J38 (Posthouse roundabout). Travel time is six minutes.

Parents' heart-rending tribute to 'beautiful' daughter killed in A55 crash

A 22-year-old woman who was “beautiful, inside and out” died after she was struck by an out of control car on the A55 as she sought refuge on the roadside after crashing herself.

Rebecca Oxlade was standing on a grass verge of the dual carriageway at Valley when a Vauxhall Corsa travelling at 70mph skidded following a heavy sleet shower and ploughed into her.

Aldi shoppers have mixed feelings about self-service checkouts as the budget super-store giant looks to introduce them.

Supermarket bosses are rolling them out across their stores, following a successful pilot at the Glascote branch in Staffordshire.

Here is what the Met Office is saying about the weather in Wales today.

A spokesman said:

Many areas will enjoy a dry and bright morning, but with a few showers, mainly towards the north.

“Turning cloudier through the afternoon with showers becoming more frequent, locally heavy. Maximum temperature 7 °C.”

Emergency services have said that it has been a quiet night overnight with no incidents of note.
