Proteas' Magala fails fitness requirements, out of 1st T20

2020-02-12 09:55

Cape Town - Warriors seamer Sisanda Magala is unavailable for selection ahead of the first T20 between the Proteas and England in East London on Wednesday evening.

The first ball is set to be bowled at 18:00 at Buffalo Park.

The Proteas confirmed on Wednesday morning that the 29-year-old had not met the fitness requirements of the team.

The Warriors seamer will undergo another test ahead of the second T20, which is scheduled to get underway on Friday in Durban.

Quinton de Kock will lead the Proteas in the three-match T20 series, after seeing the side draw the three-match ODI series 1-1.

Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn is expected to make his much-anticipated return in what will be his first international action since a T20 against Sri Lanka in March last year.

South Africa are meeting England in a bilateral T20I series after nearly three years. They last met in a three-match series in England, which the hosts won 2-1.
