Pune: Duo snatch 2 gold chains in Bhosari

PUNE: Two men on a motorcycle snatched two gold chains, collectively worth Rs83,500, from a 28-year-old woman at Landewadi in Bhosari on Tuesday morning.
The Bhosari police said the incident occurred when the woman was returning home after dropping her daughter to school bus.
“When she reached the Dattamandir Chowk in Landewadi, two men on a bike stopped near her and the pillion rider snatched her two gold chains,” assistant inspector Siddheshwar Kailase of the Bhosari police said, citing the complaint.
The woman said the motorcycle rider was wearing a black jacket and helmet, while the pillion rider had covered his face with a piece of cloth.
Criminal held for grabbing phone
A criminal on police records was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of snatching a smartphone worth Rs5,000 of a painting worker at Narpatgiri Chowk in Somwar Peth on Monday night.
The Samarth police arrested Sohaib Shaikh (21) from Kondhwa. He has nine cases of robbery registered against him with various police stations in Pune, the police said.
The incident occurred when Lalu Gulab Singh (18) reached Narpatgiri Chowk around 11pm with two of his friends to have dinner. “This is when Shaikh arrived on a scooter and threatened the trio before snatching Singh’s smartphone and sped away, the police said. A case has been registered under section 392 (robbery) of the IPC.
