Osmania university puts the onus on students for errors in UG results

SECUNDERABAD: The Osmania University put the onus on the students for errors in the undergraduate course results that were declared by the controller of examination recently.
Few students were declared absent in the mark memo despite appearing for the exams. Following this, the university administration conducted an internal preliminary scrutiny to ascertain the root causes for the few errors, which were fixed by the authorities.
The investigation found that at the time of examination, few students entered wrong subjects which was neither noted by the chief superintendents nor the students or the invigilators. “When the results were processed, there was a mismatch between the subjects offered and the subjects mentioned by the students. Hence, some students received memos as absent in the internet result,” read a press release issued by the university on Tuesday.
For instance, students entered environmental science instead of environmental studies. Since the online evaluation and processing was programmed for one label, if students mentioned the other label, the candidate’s online result reflected that he was absent. “The discrepancies occurred in the marks allotted/presence or absence of the candidate for the additional skill enhancement courses offered in a couple of undergraduate courses. Two subjects were offered by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education,” added the press release.
The university has decided to issue a revaluation notification on Wednesday for aggrieved students to apply online.
