The Mattapoisett Museum and the Mattapoisett Land Trust are inviting the community for a fun school vacation activity for kids.

On Feb. 20, children will get to make Sailor’s Valentines at Mattapoisett Museum, 5 Church St., Mattapoisett between 10:30 a.m. and noon.

These gifts were made by sailors at sea during the early to mid-19th century using seashells, and given to loved ones on their return home.

“We will supply the materials and objects to inspire your child’s imagination and your child will supply their creativity,” a press release from event organizers stated.

This free event is for children age 5 to 12 and space is limited.
