Delhi elections: 'AAAP' on EC website is not a typo

NEW DELHI: In Election Commission of India records, 'AAP' is actually called 'AAAP' and it's not a typo. The Commission's website clearly reflects the actual abbreviation of the party and you may find it on its website, showing Delhi election result and trends.

The abbreviation 'AAP' was allotted to Awami Aamjan Party much before the Aam Aadmi Party was actually formed. "Triple A in the abbreviation is not a typo....Same was used in 2015 Elections also as 'AAP' was already allotted to another party before Aam Aadmi Party approached ECI for registration in 2013," said Sheyphali Sharan, EC spokesperson, in response to a question from TOI on twitter .
Sharan tweeted that the Awami Aamjan Party was registered with the EC in 2011.
