Ludhiana: Raikot police on Monday arrested two out of total five accused, for robbing a trader of Rs3 lakh. The accused had barged into a wholesale grocery store in Raikot on January 30, and robbed the trader after threatening him with a sharp-edged weapon.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sandeep Singh of Sudhar and Tony Singh of Khalil Pati Sherpur. Sub-inspector Amarjeet Singh, SHO at Raikot police station, said the police had also recovered a scooter used by the accused in the crime. CCTVs installed near the crime spot had captured the accused, which helped the police nab them.
The SI added, “The accused were presented before the court, and the court has given the accused four days remand in police custody. The police are also trying to trace the other accused.” Raikot DSP Sukhnaaz Singh said, “The arrested accused Sandeep said those who were absconding had hatched the conspiracy. They had met Tony — who gave them a sharp-edged weapon — in Sherpur, while Tony did not come with them for the robbery. Therefore, Tony is arrested under charges of Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy ) of the IPC.
The DSP added that the accused used a scooter in the crime, which had some unique stickers on it, which helped the police in arresting them. Tony has six FIRs on him, including the NDPS Act and Excise Act.
