ALLAHABAD: Unsolved cases of murder are giving sleepless nights to men in
khakhi in
Sangam city.
Allahabad, which witnessed 131 murders last year, has already recorded 12 cases of murder in January this year.
According to the data provided by
Allahabad zone police on Tuesday, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Kaushambi and Banda districts recorded only one murder case each. Chitrakoot recorded 8 murder cases while Fatehpur and Pratapgarh registered two cases each.
Last year, the Allahabad zone comprising eight districts — Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Banda, Hamirpur, Mahoba and Chitrakoot had recorded 351 cases of murder.
The lowest cases of murder were registered in Mahoba (14) followed by Hamirpur and Chitrakoot (20 each), Kaushambi (34), Fatehpur (35), Banda (36) and Pratapgarh (62).
Allahabad police have not been able to a lead or establish motive of crime in
Soraon case in which five members of a family were found murdered at their Yusufpur house on Allahabad-Varanasi highway on January 5.
At Yusufpur, bodies of transporter Somdutt Tiwari (32), his father Vijay Shankar Tiwari (60), wife Soni Tiwari (28) and two sons, Kanha (7) and Kunj (2), were found in puddles of blood in three separate rooms of his house. The assailants had used household articles like kitchen knife and grinding stone to stab, hack or batter the family to death.
Over a month has passed since the Soraon case but the police are yet to make a breakthrough.
Besides, the sensational murder of four persons, including a woman and her three children in Handia, is yet to be solved.
A woman and her three children were found dead in their house in Aswa Daudpur village under the jurisdiction of Handia police station in trans-Ganga on February 6.
Cops claim that the woman had killed her children before committing suicide.
IG, Allahabad zone, KP Singh said, “Cops have been asked to pull up their socks to crack unsolved cases. Joint police teams are making efforts to work out cases.”
