LUCKNOW: After beautifying and repairing roads outside
Vrindavan Yojana during the Defence Expo,
Lucknow Municipal Corporation has now turned its focus on repairing of roads, cleaning of drains, collection of garbage and installing streetlights for inner colonies of the housing project.
According to LMC, more than 25,000 people live in
Vrindavan Colony. The housing colony was handed over to the civic body by
UP Housing Board last May. However, apart from garbage collection, no other services was provided by LMC due to non-payment Rs 4.32-crore dues by the housing board. The amount has now been transferred to the municipal body and all civic amenities will be provided by LMC soon.

Beautification in Vrindavan Yojana will last only when people will join in to conserve it. While LMC will have to ensure the area gets unhindered civic services, people will have to act as custodians by protecting plantation and wall paintings, throwing garbage at right places, refraining from spitting and checking digging of roads for personal use
Sector 8 resident Hemant Verma said, “It is not only LMC’s responsibility to keep the locality clean. We as residents have to ensure not to throw garbage in the open and use services provided by government bodies as our own.”
“With LMC taking charge, we hope potholed roads get repaired soon,” said Anoop Vaish of sector 10.
Municipal commissioner Indramani Tripathi said, “After repair work outside the colony, our next step is to provide civic amenities to residents.”
