It went down to the wire, with the Proteas picking a victory off the final ball of the match. Ngidi took 2 wickets and only conceded 5 runs while defending 7 of the last over.
Earlier, batting first, South Africa put 177/8 in their allotted 20 overs. However, with the kind of brisk start they secured with Quinton de Kock’s aggressive innings, it did seem the Proteas would score somewhere around 200. But England pulled it back with wickets at regular intervals. Only 17 runs came off the last three overs as England clawed back into the game.
