With video tweet of 1,000th point
Whether it's basketball or soccer, opponents have little luck trying to keep Mariah Ramos from scoring.
The Tiverton High junior took her place among the school's career girls' basketball scoring leaders last weekend by reaching 1,000 career points in a game on Friday against Shea High School in Pawtucket, R.I.

— DailyNewsSports (@SportsNDN)February 8, 2020Coming off a remarkable soccer season in which she netted a state second-best 39 goals and helped lead the Tigers to a state title, Ramos is averaging 20 points per game for the playoff-bound girls' basketball team, which sports a 10-5 record.
She reached the 1,000-point plateau on Friday when she drained a 3-pointer from the left wing midway through the first half. A strong contingent of Tiverton/Ramos fans made the trip to Pawtucket and they came with posters and placards and Ramos head pictures.
“Of course you want to have it at home, in your hometown,” Ramos said. "but Tiverton is this town where we all support each other. They all came down, so I’m fine with [being on the road].”
Tiverton won the game 60-56.
“I’m still just like blown at the fact that I’ve made the mark of 1,000 - that’s just crazy to process,” Ramos said. “I couldn’t have done it without the support of my teammates and family, who have been with me since my freshman year.”
