AMETHI: A 17-year-old girl died after an unidentified man allegedly slit her throat in Gauriganj here, police said on Wednesday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Arpit Kapoor said the girl, Shaina, was attacked on Tuesday night.

Hearing her cries, Shaina's family members rushed to rescue her, but by that time, the man had already fled the spot, the DSP said.

The minor succumbed to injuries on the way to district hospital, he said. A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the accused, police said.
