The issue of reservation in promotion of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people has now become a sore throat for the Narendra Modi government at the Center. The controversy seems to be deepening after the Supreme Court's recent remarks in the case.

The remarks of the country's top court have been viewed by the opposition parties as a threat to the reservation. Now there can be a fierce battle in Parliament regarding this matter. In this regard, the opposition parties are demanding the Central Government filed a review petition on this comment in the Supreme Court. The Congress has even said to challenge this decision of the Supreme Court.

It is worth noting that recently the Supreme Court in its remarks had said that reservation in promotion in government jobs is not a fundamental right and it is up to the discretion of the state governments to implement it or not. The apex court of the country has even said in this regard that no court can issue orders to give reservations to people belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
