PUNE: The Vishrambaug police have launched a search for a man who allegedly flashed a 22-year-old student on the steps of a study centre in Sadashiv Peth around 7.45am on Sunday.
The suspect also passed lewd comments on the student. When the student raised an alarm, the suspect ran away, the police said, adding that a case has been registered under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354-A(sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code in this regard.
An officer from the Vishrambaug police said when the complainant was climbing the steps of the study centre, the suspect followed her and asked if ‘Kulkarni’ stayed in the same building.
“Before the student could say anything, the suspect, all of a sudden, flashed her and also passed lewd comments. As soon as she raised an alarm, he took to heels,” the officer said.
The student stated in her compliant that the man was about 25-year-old. “She has given us the description of the person. Besides, we have launched a hunt to trace him. We will arrest him soon,” the officer said.
