Pune: Man booked for molesting student

PUNE: Vishramabaug police on Monday launched a search for an unknown man who flashed a 22-year-old student on the steps of a study centre at Sadashiv Peth.
The incident occurred around 7.45am when the student was on her way to study at the centre. The suspect also passed some lewd comments and fled when the student began raising an alarm.
The student on Monday approached the Vishrambaug police and lodged an FIR against the unidentified man. The police have booked the suspect under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354-A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code.
An officer from the Vishrambaug police told TOI that the on Sunday around 7.45am, when student was climbing the steps of the study centre. The suspect followed her on the steps and stopped her. “He asked her whether ‘Kulkarni’ stays in the same building. Before the student could say anything, the suspect all of a sudden flashed her and also passed lewd comments. He then fled from the spot,” the officer said.
The student stated in her compliant that the man was about 25-year-old. “She has given us the description of the person. We will soon arrest him,” the officer said.
