The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Centre to approach the trial court for issuance of fresh date for the execution of convicts in Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case. Justice Bhushan asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, saying, "Your chart shows 3 mercy petitions have been rejected. Pawan hasn't filed. Why don't you file for a fresh death warrant?".Asha Devi, mother of gang-rape victim had hoped that the convicts will be hanged soon. The top court sought a response from the four death row convicts in the case.
