Forensic divers had searched the piers at Elizabeth and Brooke streets on Monday but found no sign of him, ABC reports.

Police say the man is visiting Hobart with his father, who had been out with him on Saturday but went home early.

The father raised the alarm when Mr Davies didn't return to their hotel room, ABC reports.

Mr Davies is described as being about 170 centimetres tall with short, dark hair. He has a nose ring and tattoos including a palm tree on his left forearm.

He was last seen wearing beige trousers, a black T-shirt and red sneakers.
