THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two out of the three novel coronavirus-positive patients in Kerala - the only ones in India known to have contracted the virus - have now tested negative in subsequent tests, with a student admitted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital (the first nCoV-positive case reported) becoming on Monday the latest to be declared free of infection.
A patient admitted to
Alappuzha Medical College Hospital had tested negative earlier. The third patient is in Kanhangad district hospital in Kasaragod. The health status of all these patients is satisfactory.
Health authorities said that those who tested negative in tests would be discharged from hospitals only on the advice of central health authorities.
As many as 3,367 people who have come from virus-hit regions are under observation in Kerala. Of these, 31 are in isolation wards in various hospitals while the remaining are under home quarantine. The test results of all Wuhan returnees and those who were brought to Kochi from Kunming on February 7 are nCoV-negative.
Those who complete 28 days of home quarantine should consult doctors before ending their quarantine. Those who plan to travel to other countries after home quarantine have been asked to refer to guidelines issued by the countries to which they wish to travel.
