After the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal started the Mohalla Clinic. This name seemed a bit strange to hear, but it also showed its effect in the Delhi Assembly elections. The Mohalla Clinic project first started in Delhi in the country and is credited to the Aam Aadmi Party government.
Its direct purpose was to provide free health services to the people. It is a primary health center where people can get treatment from colds to fever. They also get medicines for free. Here patients get free medical consultations including medicine, diagnostics. The biggest reason behind starting Mohalla Clinic was to reduce congestion of government hospitals.
The government plans to provide full treatment to the sick of major and serious diseases in hospitals and to treat minor diseases in the locality itself. The mohalla clinics are conceived by the economically weaker sections, slum dwellers, people unable to spend money on health services.
