- Election Commission data shows Congress’ Alka Lamba trailing far behind Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Parlad Singh Sawhney in Chandni Chowk.
- Lamba has only been abled to garner 4.82% votes according to the tally so far.
- She's 28,001 votes behind Sawhney and 16,526 votes behind the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Sumar Kumar Gupta.
Lamba has only recently returned to Congress after a brief stint with AAP. She formerly with the Gandhi-party for 20 years, before she switched over to AAP in 2014. However, citing disrespect by other party members, she switched back to Congress in 2019.

Why Alka Lamba walked away from the AAP
Things started out well between Lamba and the AAP. However, that relationship soon turned sour. Only two days ago, Lamba allegedly tried to slap an AAP member before being pulled back by the police at Majnu ka Tila.
Lamba joined Congress in 1994 under the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). A year later, she won the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU).
Her relationship with Congress ended up being a 20-year affair. However, when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was formed, Lamba quit Congress to join them on 26 December 2014.
During the 2015 Delhi election, Lamba won in Chandi Chowk. However, after AAP lost in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, she sought accountability from chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Subsequently, she was removed from AAP’s official WhatsApp group of lawmakers.
During the campaigning for the Lok Sabha election, Lamba refused to participate and refrained from playing a part in Kejriwal’s roadshow after she was asked to walk behind his car.
Later in April, she was involved in a Twitter spat with AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj after he’d goaded her with a taunt to resign from the party. Another rough patch hit when Lamba raised objections against AAP’s decision to pass a resolution to revoke Rajiv Gandhi’s Bharat Ratna.
Citing repeated disrespect, she quit the AAP in September 2019 — and went back to Congress.
