FALL RIVER — Police made two arrests in separate incidents over the weekend, one involving an alleged knife assault and illegal gun possession and the other involving drunken driving crashes.

Mark Wilson, 41, of Fall River, was arrested Friday evening, Feb. 7, following an assault complaint at H&B Gas on Robeson Street.

A couple told Fall River officers that Wilson had brandished two knives on them, according to a news release from Fall River police. Officers then responded to Wilson's home at 645 Cherry St. and took him into custody.

Upon executing a search warrant, police found the knives allegedly used in the incident, as well as a firearm, 83 marijuana plants and ammunition, the release states.

Wilson was charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of 12 or more marijuana plants (83 total and one pound of buds), and a firearm violation with two prior crimes.

On Sunday, at around 6:30 p.m., police responded to Milliken Boulevard for reports of a motor vehicle crash.

Police say 53-year-old David M. Dias of Somerset is alleged to have struck another driver's vehicle twice. The first collision was at President Avenue and North Main Street, where the complainant got out of his vehicle, exchanged information with Dias and told him to get off the road because he was too drunk, according to police.

The second collision occurred on Milliken Boulevard, where Dias rear-ended the same driver's vehicle that was stopped at a red light, causing the driver to hit her face on the steering wheel, the release states.

Dias was subsequently arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor (second offense) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
