VADODARA: Five persons who had returned to the city from China have completed the two-week observation period in which they had to stay in isolation at home.
In all, 18 persons had been put under observation by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) after they returned in wake of the novel
coronavirus outbreak there.
Sources in the VMC health department said that the 18 persons whose details were shared with the civic body had come to the city since around January 20. These persons were examined on their entry to the country at one or even more airports through which they passed. Some had even gone to the SSG Hospital to get themselves examined. VMC officials said that as per the protocol, such persons had to stay in isolation at home and VMC teams kept a check on their health daily.
Five of these persons had been in the city for two weeks or more without any symptom of a novel coronavirus infection. “The remaining 13 are still under our observation,” said a VMC official. So far, only one sample was sent for examination for the viral infection. The tests turned negative.
