Coimbatore: The city police have said the Gandhipuram second level flyover is off limits to walkers and joggers and warned against taking selfies on the flyover.
Advising the residents to not use the flyover for walking and jogging, R Mutharasu, deputy commissioner of police (traffic), said the flyover which connects the 100 Feet Road – Chinnasamy Road is only for vehicles. “Action would be taken against people who are using the flyover for jogging and walking,” he said.
Besides, some people stop their vehicles on the flyover to take selfies. “People should not take selfies on the flyover. Cases would be registered against violators,” he added.
To prevent truck movements during the peak hours near Tidal Park, the traffic police have put up displays from Avinashi Road to Thaneerpandal Road against it. The displays state that trucks are not allowed on the stretch between 8am and 11am as well as between 4pm and 8pm. If trucks were found using the stretch, police will impose a fine of Rs 20,000 under Section 115 and Section 194 of the Motor Vehicles Act. tnn
