PUNE: Agrima Exim, a tech-based export company based in Pune is facilitating farmers in exporting their agricultural produce to the global market. Around 50-plus farmers across the country are associated with them. In Maharashtra they are helping in exporting  agricultural commodities such as rice, wheat flour and turmeric. Farmers from the State who are associated with them say their income has increased as they get good returns.

Vidyanand Manikrao Jadhav, a farmer from Latur district who is associated with Agrima Exim for last two months said, “I have sugarcane, turmeric, potato, onion, wheat, and jowar on my farm and earlier my produce could go only to the local market. Since two months, I am connected with them and exported 20 tonnes turmeric. In local market, we never get good prices and with export your products reach the global market. We managed to get double compared to domestic price of turmeric.”

“Next month, I will be exporting wheat as well. They help us in getting good returns for the produce and also guide us about the global demand for agricultural produce,” added Jadhav.

Another farmer from Kolhapur, Ganesh Bilure who is exporting rice, said, “We had no knowledge of export and used to sell our produce in the domestic market. It becomes difficult for us to get premium rates in the local market. I have been associated with them since four months and they guided us about the export and its norms. I have exported 22 quintals rice with their help and managed to earn three times more compared to the local market. It is also profitable as we do not have to spend for logistics as they take care of everything and we also received payment in a limited period of time.”

Agrima Exim, a start-up registered in October 2019 is helping in making export easy for farmers and help them earn more. Kuldeep Jadhav, CEO and Director said, “We help them create awareness about the demand of agriculture produce in global market and also procure produce from them and facilitate them in exporting. At present there are 50-plus farmers associated with us in the country from states like Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh  and main focused products are rice, turmeric and wheat flour.  We are hoping that by the end of this year, we could increase our turnover and manage to export around 500 MT of rice,  100 MT of turmeric and 250 MT of wheat flour. For this, we are looking forward to connect with at least 300-plus farmers across the country.”

He added, “For Maharashtra we are focusing on exporting products such as groundnuts, raisins and onion in the future while also planning for expanding to Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh as well.”

BRINGING EXPORT PRODUCE ONLINE
“Normally the export process used to be offline and it take a lot of time for the entire procedure to get completed. We have also created an application where producers and buyers across the world can get registered. This application has information about the produce so that helps the buyers and saves time. It can also tell farmers where their produce is going. This application is in updation stage at present,” said Kuldeep Jadhav
