Thiruvananthapuram: All India Private Schools’ & Children’s Welfare Association appealed to the state government to
roll back the decision to hike tax on
school buses of
unaided schools.
Finance minister T M Thomas Isaac, in his recent budget speech, announced a significant increase in the tax levied on school buses run by unaided schools.
Terming the proposed
tax hike a deplorable move, the Kerala chapter of the association urged the government to immediately withdraw the proposal.
“School managements are already troubled by the steep fines slapped on buses by transport authorities. Natural calamities such as the recent unprecedented floods have already left the unaided sector in doldrums,” the association said, in a memorandum submitted to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on Monday. tnn
