This was announced by Shahi Imam Punjab Maulana Habib-ur-Rehman Saani Ludhianvi after holding meeting with the members of various communities at the Jamia Masjid here on Monday.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Shahi Imam said that Jalandhar byepass was chosen as protest site as it has memorial of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar who was architect of Constitution and the agitation is to save that. He added that the protest will be to save the self respect of each Indian.
Disclosing about the chronology of the daily protest, the head priest said that each day protest would start after the prayers of various religions. He added that members of all communities would participate in the protest and they were inviting all to join the agitation.
“We request all to come forward and fight together the conspiracy against the Constitution,” Shahi Imam said.
The organizers said that the protest would start at 10am and end at 10pm daily and members of various groups will address the women and men protesters at the site of protest. They added that mothers, sisters and daughters from various areas of the city would participate in the protest.
“We are launching this agitation against the CAA and NRC which the Union government is bringing as part of conspiracy to divide people on the basis of religions and sects. People of India are witness to the fact that we all fought against the Britishers together. It was important to start protest on pattern of Shaheen Bagh as the first Fatwah (decree) for Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christians, Dalit unity against the Britishers for complete freedom was given by Maulana Shah Abdul Qadir Ludhianvi,” Shahi Imam said.
