Banker dies as stray cattle cause car crash

Ludhiana: A 31-year-old man was killed and his three friends injured after their car turned turtle while avoiding to hit stray cattle on Ludhiana-Amritsar National Highway early on Monday morning.
While Sunil Tanwar, 31, a resident of Bahadurgarh, Haryana, died on the spot, his friends, Raj Kumar, Inderpal and Amit Singh received injuries.
Salem Tabri police station assistant sub-inspector Kulwinder Singh said, “Sunil — an assistant manager with a bank in Haryana — was at the wheel. He and his three friends had gone to Jalandhar to attend a wedding function. They were on way back home when stray cattle came in front of their car around 4am. While trying to avoid hitting the animals, Sunil lost control of the speeding car, which hit a road divider before turning over.”
Sunil’s friends called up an ambulance and police. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC.
