Thiruvananthapuram:
CPI state council here, on Monday, passed a
resolution urging the
Union government to put an end to the alleged
discriminatory attitude the Centre maintains towards Kerala.
“The Union government attitude towards Kerala is cruel. It continues to neglect the state, which is struggling to come out from the financial stress inflicted by natural calamities. Since the Centre-state relationship is not a master-slave relation, there is no justification for the abject neglect to Kerala,” the resolution said.
Centre refused to sanction any assistance to Kerala when a meeting chaired by home minister Amit Shah decided to allot Rs 5,908.54 crore to seven states for flood relief activities in 2019, the resolution said. “The Union government is yet to release its share of Rs 1,035 crore to be given to Kerala for paddy procurement. The cut in central share to coconut board, spices board, tea board and rubber board also affects the state’s agriculture sector,” the resolution said.
CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, central control commission chairman Panniyan Raveendran, national executive member K E Ismael, assistant secretaries K Prakash Babu and Sathyam Mokeri participated in the meeting.
