Dhadrianwale decides to suspend his congregations

Bathinda: Sikh preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale has decided to temporarily suspend his congregations in Punjab for the time being. He took the step as the event being held under police protection.
His congregation in Lehragaga, Sangrur district, was also conducted under police protection a few days ago. Dhadrianwale said, “I have decided to suspend congregations because these are to be organised under police protection and I do not want to spoil the atmosphere of Punjab. I am open to discussions with anyone, even the Akal Takht jathedar.”
Meanwhile, the three-day congregation by Dhadrianwale at Joga village in Mansa district continued on Sunday amid tight security. Barnala police on Saturday late night had taken 55 persons, including preacher Amrik Singh Ajnala, into preventive custody while they were heading towards Joga to disrupt the congregation.
They were let off on Sunday on assurances of not going to Joga. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Sabha Haryana sewadar Sukhwinder Singh Sirsa was also not allowed to reach Joga. Dhadrianwale is being accused of speaking against Sikh Gurus and the Akal Takht jathedar.
Earlier, Sarbat Khalsa-appointed Akal Takht jathedar Dhian Singh Mand assailed the step of taking Ajnala and others into custody. He asked the state government to let off detainees or they would hold a protest. Mand said Dhadrianwale must desist from speaking against the Gurus and Akal Takht.
Barnala SSP Harjit Singh said, “ A total of 55 persons including Ajnala were detained under preventive measures on Saturday night and they were let off today on assurances of not to go to Joga.”
