India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), a public sector undertaking, today organised an in-house training session for its women executives. The overarching theme of the program was centred on public speaking & presentation skills. The event was organised in close collaboration with ITDC’s Human Resource Development division- Ashok Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management (AIH&TM), at Hotel Samrat.
The session was chaired by Mr. H.K. Bhutani (GM – HRD), ITDC, Mr. Rajiv Anand (GM- CM&PR), ITDC & the training was conducted by Ms. Garima Verma (master trainer), a renowned facilitator, from Times Professional Group. This one-of-a-kind session emphasised on how public speaking is imperative for one’s overall career growth and how to present yourself, in front of the world.
Sharing his experience, Mr.Piyush Tiwari, DCM, ITDC said, “In today’s day and age, public speaking and good presentation skills are pivotal if one has to create an indelible impact. These training sessions are focused towards fostering career growth, personal development and in empowering our women workforce. Not only are we looking to augment their communication skills but in the process, also uplift their self-confidence and self-belief. An empowered and successful pool of women executives will help the organisation attain greater heights.”
The session by AIH&TM was aimed towards providing all the requisite knowledge in terms of public speaking and how can one become an effective communicator. The training was designed to educate and empower the existing and future women leaders of the organisation. Various aspects such as techniques of speaking, voice modulation, how to make an impactful presentation, were covered extensively in the training.
This one-day workshop was conceptualised to enable women leaders embark on a journey towards becoming skilled and effective communicators. The said session provided in-depth knowledge about communication perception, the fear of public speaking, speaking pyramids consisting of a gamut of topics such as tenets of effective communication, public speaking, body language, speech preparation & much more. Swayed by the success, the Corporation is now planning to organise a series of such activities for its employees, all the year-round.
