Varanasi: Two
brothers were shot dead by some miscreants in Nandganj area of Ghazipur district when they were returning home on a bicycle on Sunday late night.
SP Ghazipur Dr Om Prakash Singh said that family of the deceased have lodged a named FIR against Phulli Bind and Suraj Yadav of the same village in this connection. Police teams have been engaged to nab the accused at the earliest. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, he said.
According to the police, two brothers Vijay Yadav and Pradyumna Yadav, residents of Tukdaha village under the limits of Nandganj police station, used to run a petty shop of bicycle repairing between Tokdaha and Sargatha villages. On Sunday night, they were returning on their bicycle after closing the shop when some miscreants opened indiscriminate fire on them and fled, said the SP.
On hearing the sound of firing local natives rushed to the spot. On being informed, the police also reached the site and rushed the duo to the district hospital where Vijay was declared brought dead by the doctors. Pradyumna was referred to Varanasi, however, he also succumbed to injuries during the course of treatment, said Singh, adding that the family has lodged a named FIR in this connection.
Initial investigation of police revealed that some altercation took place between the brothers and the accused a few months ago after which the latter had set their shop on fire. To settle their dispute, the villagers had convened a meeting in which it was decided that Phulli and Suraj will pay Rs 60,000 to Vijay and Pradyumna as compensation. The accused were supposed to pay the amount on February 1. When they failed to pay the amount Vijay and Pradyumna allegedly threatened them. Police suspect the murder to be a fallout of the same dispute.
