GURUGRAM: A day after a man’s body was found with burn marks near the city bus stand, his friend was arrested by the Sector 40 crime branch for murder.
According to police, 43-year-old Bunty, the victim, owed the accused, Vijay, Rs 20,000. His constant refusal to repay the amount infuriated Vijay, who killed him on Friday night, said police.
During interrogation, police said Vijay confessed to the crime and told them Friday’s sequence of events.
“Vijay and Bunty met in the evening after office and shared a few drinks. They then went on a drive in Vijay’s car. Near Madan Grounds in Sector 12, Vijay pushed Bunty out of the car and ran the car over him, not once but four times. Vijay then went home in Madanpuri, only to return with a bottle of petrol that he used to burn Bunty,” an officer said.
On the basis of a complaint by Bunty’s father Nanak Chand, an FIR was registered at Sector 14 police station under IPC sections 302(murder) and 201(disappearance of evidence). “We will produce Vijay in court on Monday,” the officer added.
