Tamil Nadu: Man stabs wife to death after dispute in Thanjavur

THANJAVUR: Police have launched a hunt for a man who is on the run after allegedly stabbing his wife to death near Orathanadu in Thanjavur district in on Sunday night.
Police said Ilayaraja, 35, of Ambalapattu Kudikadu near Orathanadu, murdered his wife, identified as I Sangeetha, 30, after a row between them went out of hand. The couple has two children.
Sangeetha was upset that her husband has been wasting money by visiting countries under the guise of finding jobs.
The murder took place when Sangeetha began questioning her husband for his wastefulness. Police said that they frequently quarreled over this which created a rift between them.
Ilayaraja, who lately joined a company in Chennai and was staying in the place, returned home on Sunday and fresh dispute broke out.
Police said the quarrel later turned violen and Ilayaraja stabbed Sangeetha with scissors before fleeing the scene.
Grievously injured Sangeetha was rushed to a private hospital in Thanjavur where she succumbed to injuries on Monday. Based on a compliant, Papanadu police registered a case.
