KPCC dharnas on Feb 26 over increase in service fees

Thiruvananthapuram: The KPCC has decided to organize dharnas in front of village offices in the state on February 26 to protest against the fee hike for pokkuvaravu (conveyance), fair value of land, building tax, etc.
KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran said the state budget has levied fees for services which have so far been free, especially getting documents from government offices.
The people have been burdened with the increase in the pokkuvaravu fees and building tax. The government has imposed a tax burden of Rs 1,103 crore in the budget, he said.
Several assembly constituencies, not given due recognition in the budget, are of the opposition MLAs, he alleged. The proposals of Kuttanadu package, coastal area package and Idukki package are not new. tnn
