MUMBAI: A chef employed at a Khar-based restaurant was arrested on Saturday for pelting stones at a long-distance train at
Bandra Terminus and shattering a windowpane on Friday. The police are ascertaining if the accused, DD Singh (33), was inebriated when he committed the offence.
The incident was reported around 7.30pm on platform 7 of Bandra Terminus on Friday. Police said it was not clear why Singh came to the terminus. Two
Railway Protection Force (RPF) constables patrolling the platform noticed Singh pelting stones at an AC coach of the down Lokshakti Express and shattering a windowpane. Both constables took Singh to the RPF chowky, and he was later handed over to
Bandra Government Railway Police (GRP), where he was placed under arrest early on Saturday.
“We are inquiring whether Singh had come to the terminus to drop or pick someone up, or whether he had a dispute with anyone,” said a police officer. He was booked under Section 308 (attempted culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code, and under provisions of the Railways Act.
