Secunderabad on road to relief from traffic woes

The authorities will soon take up road widening works to ease traffic congestion
SECUNDERABAD: The state government on Monday cleared a proposal for road widening from Lalapet nala to Ambedkar statue at Lalapet in Secunderabad to provide relief to people from traffic congestion on the existing road.
Deputy speaker T Padma Rao Goud on Monday disbursed cheques to the tune of nearly Rs 7 crore as compensation to landowners who lost their land as a result of the land acquisition.
Providing details of road widening works to be taken up, the deputy speaker said that the works would be taken up from Lalapet Flyover to Moula Ali Flyover, which stretches across 0.50 km, from Tukaramgate to Military Railway Track (0.50 km), Chilkalguda Junction to Sitaphalmandi X roads (1.454 km) and from Sitaphalmandi to Jamia Osmania (2.55 km) in Tarnaka division of Secunderabad constituency.
Around 140 property owners have agreed to give up their properties on the stretch for the road widening, said the deputy speaker. “The property owners have given up the land which is between 30 and 50 square yards for the road widening. At present, the road width is 73-foot and we plan to widen it to 100-foot. The works pertaining to land acquisition will begin next week,” said deputy commissioner, GHMC (North Zone), Ravi Kumar.
The GHMC said that the plan will ease traffic woes of several commuters coming from Moula Ali, Nacharam and adjoining areas and heading towards Secunderabad railway station and other parts of Hyderabad.
