LUCKNOW: Another case of
triple talaq was reported from the city after a woman claimed that her husband divorced her inside the civil court building in
Wazirganj where they had gone to attend the hearing of a case on Friday.
This is the fourth case of triple talaq in the city in the past 15 days.
According to the FIR,
Afroz Nisha (30) and
Abrar Ali had got married in February 2012. Nisha alleged that soon after marriage, her husband and in-laws had begun harassing her for dowry. She went through the ordeal for four years before walking out of the house in February 2016. She lodged an
FIR at Mohanlalganj police station for dowry harassment and domestic violence. The case is since pending in
family court.
Afroz claimed that on Friday, as they were leaving the courtroom around 12.30pm, her husband uttered talaq three times and told her that she was no longer his wife.
Ali, a tailor, told TOI, “I had gone to court and have got a date in March. I did not see my wife in court. The allegations made by her are false.”
Wazirganj SHO Deepak Dubey said, “We have lodged an FIR under sections of Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019 and will take steps accordingly.”
