GHAZIABAD: A 28-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by four bike- borne assailants in Loni on Saturday. Police arrested two persons — Shafique and Hritik — till evening. The other two are still absconding.
The deceased, Mohammad Saleem, was a scrap dealer and lived in Behta Hazipur village.
His family said, he had gone to his sister’s house in the neighbourhood when he was shot around 12pm. “Saleem had gone to buy food, but soon we heard a gunshot. When I rushed outside with my wife, we saw four men on a bike and one of them was holding a pistol. He threatened us to go inside and shut the doors,” said Saleem’s brother-in-law, Javed.
“Immediately, I went on the terrace and saw that the men had shot four times into Saleem’s head. When they fled, we rushed Saleem to a nearby hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival,” he added. The four men have been booked under IPC Section 302 (murder).
SP (rural) Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said, initial investigation revealed that there was a financial dispute as Shafique had to pay Rs 4 lakh to Saleem but he failed to do so.
